New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Leonard Bernstein – 1. Andante moderato. Leonard Bernstein, New York Philharmonic Orchestra – II. Hens and Cockerels - III. Wild Asses. Leonard Bernstein, New York Philharmonic Orchestra – III. Valse des Fleurs - Tempo di valse.

Bernstein recorded two outstanding and definitive readings of Copland's Symphony once for Columbia and later for DG, both with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. While Copland's 3rd is a great American symphony, the star attraction here is the Symphony for Organ and Orchestra. The Symphony for Organ and Orchestra is an ambitious, far-reaching and imaginative work. Composed in 1925, during Copland's early experimental stage, it demonstrates a daring young mind that is already a master craftsman influenced by the orchestral colors of Stravinsky  . The 3rd movement sounds errie. 9 people found this helpful.
